Attendance, shift and leave for Capsule Manufacturers: humid rooms, early starts and fast machines
Capsule rooms are held to a narrow humidity range, and gowning takes time. Attendance and shift design must allow for that, or lateness and thin cover will hit the filling machines.

Gowning is not instant. A worker who arrives at the gate on time can be late to the machine, and a late setter delays the whole line. Night shifts have weaker supervision, so gowning and humidity habits fade there. Leave is taken without regard to the batch plan, and a single setter on leave means a machine sits idle or is run by someone half trained.
Good design counts gowning time into the shift start and makes handover happen at the machine. Cover is planned by listing who can set each machine and limiting how many of them can be away together. Late and absent patterns are read monthly by shift, and any difference between day and night is looked into as a supervision question, not blamed on the people.
How to set it up
1. Count gowning time into the shift
Measure how long entry takes from the gate to the machine. Set the shift start so work begins when the machine is ready.
2. Fix handover at the machine
Give a few minutes for the outgoing setter to brief the incoming one on fill weight, shell batch and any trouble.
3. Plan cover for setters and inspectors
List who can stand in for each. Limit simultaneous leave among setters and keep a trained backup. See attendance, shift and leave for rules.
4. Compare day and night patterns
Check lateness, absence and gowning lapses by shift. If nights are worse, look at supervision and room conditions first.
5. Agree leave rules around the batch plan
Ask for requests early for busy weeks and agree swaps in advance. Make the rule the same for everyone.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Time the walk from gate to machine on three shifts.
- Count late starts by shift over the last month.
- List setters on leave together in the last quarter.
- Ask night shift staff what is different about their supervision.

Questions owners ask
Place a trained supervisor at the room entry, repeat refreshers on nights and treat lapses as a supervision issue before a personal one.
Yes. Define the start as the time the person is at the machine, gowned and ready to work, so lateness is measured fairly.
That is a risk to plan out. Train a second setter per machine and make leave rules prevent both being away together.
