Attendance, shift and leave process for Sanitaryware showrooms: weekend rotas and fitter cover
A showroom is judged on whether a trained adviser is on the floor when a family walks in. Rosters must cover weekends, festival weeks and the delivery run without leaving the display unmanned.

Share your requirementsWhy attendance, shift and leave process matters in sanitaryware showrooms
Most sanitaryware showrooms keep attendance in a register at the billing desk, and leave is agreed by phone. On a quiet Tuesday this works. On the Saturday before a house-warming season, three advisers are on leave, the senior adviser is at a site, and a customer who came with an architect meets a trainee who cannot answer a single question about the suite.
A good process is plain. The rota is posted a week ahead, weekly offs are rotated fairly, and one person approves swaps. Delivery drivers and fitters sit on the same rota as floor staff, because a missing fitter delays an order as surely as a missing adviser loses a sale.
How to set it up
1. Mark the busy hours on the rota
Show the weekend peaks, festival weeks and pre-monsoon renovation weeks on a calendar, then place your strongest advisers on them with a note of who covers each display area.
2. Rotate weekly offs openly
Publish the weekly off rotation a month ahead so nobody feels the Saturday burden is theirs alone. Allow one swap per person per month with the manager's nod.
3. Put fitters and drivers on the same sheet
List drivers, loaders and fitters with the day's delivery run, so a missing person is seen at 9 am and not at the customer's door at noon.
4. Record late arrival and early exit in one place
One register or sheet at the billing desk, filled in by the manager on duty, with a weekly look at patterns by person and by day.
5. Agree leave rules in writing
A one-page note on how to ask for leave, how much notice is expected in peak weeks and who decides. Link it to the role design and job descriptions so cover duties are clear.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Look at the last four Saturdays and count how many experienced advisers were on the floor each time.
- Check how many deliveries were delayed because a driver, loader or fitter was absent.
- Ask staff whether weekly offs feel fairly shared and note any names that come up often.
- Find out whether the leave rule differs between branches and why.

Questions owners ask
Mark those weeks on the calendar early, ask staff for their leave wishes a month ahead and set a limit on how many advisers can be away together. Fairness in who gets which week matters more than the limit.
Yes. Their absence delays orders as much as a floor absence loses a sale, so the manager should see all of them on one sheet each morning.
Be firm on peak days and calm otherwise. Record it, speak to the person early and look for patterns such as distance or transport before reaching for warnings.
