Attendance, shift and leave process for Taxi Companies: rosters that fill every cab
An idle cab earns nothing, and a driver on double duty for a month will break. A written roster, weekly offs and a standby bench keep cabs working without wearing people out.

Taxi duty often runs without a real roster. Drivers tell the dispatcher when they will come, a few keep the same cab for years and a few skip without a word. Leave is taken by simply not turning up, so the dispatcher plans the day by phoning around at six in the morning.
A shared roster fixes much of this. Duty slots by cab and driver, a weekly off for everyone, a named standby driver each day, and a simple way to record leave in advance. When a driver is absent, the next step is known, and when a driver works too many days, the record shows it.
How to set it up
1. Build a weekly roster by cab
List each cab, its driver and duty slot, and publish it every week, on paper at the yard and by message.
2. Give everyone a fixed weekly off
Stagger offs across the week so cabs are covered, and let drivers swap with a short note to the supervisor.
3. Keep a standby list
Two or three willing drivers per day, rotated and paid a small standby allowance if called in.
4. Record leave in advance
Drivers ask a week ahead, the supervisor notes it on the roster and sends a reply. Short-notice cases are recorded as such.
5. Review streaks and absences monthly
Look at drivers with long runs without a day off and at repeated no-shows, then talk to them.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Count how many cabs sat idle last week and why.
- Check drivers with more than twelve days in a row without a weekly off.
- See whether leave requests are recorded anywhere other than the dispatcher's memory.
- Ask the standby drivers whether they were paid or thanked for being called in.

Questions owners ask
Write the handover time and place on the roster, add a cab condition checklist at each change and record who is responsible for fuel and cleaning.
Announce the busy dates early, limit leave on peak days and offer extra days off before or after. Fairness in who gets what matters more than the rule.
Penalties invite disputes and may be limited by law. Confirm the rules with a qualified professional, and prefer a warning, a talk and reward for steady attendance.
