Attendance, shift and leave process for Furniture showrooms: floor shifts, delivery routes and fitting visits
A furniture showroom runs three kinds of working day at once: consultants on the floor, crews on the road and fitters at customers' homes. One process for attendance, shifts and leave keeps all three fair and visible.

Showroom staff are easy to count: they arrive, they stand on the floor, they leave. Delivery crews are not. A loader may wait two hours in the yard, then spend six on the road, and a fitter may travel across the city for one wardrobe. When hours are noted loosely, overtime becomes a quarrel and leave is granted by whoever the manager notices.
A clear process sets rosters by group, a daily route sheet for crews, a rule for waiting time and a simple leave plan around weddings, festivals and house-moving seasons. It lets staff swap shifts with approval. The owner can see how many people are working on a Saturday, how many are free and how many hours the crews actually put in.
How to set it up
1. Roster floor, crew and fitters separately
Each group has its own pattern, minimum cover and weekly offs. A combined page shows the whole showroom.
2. Use a daily route sheet for delivery crews
Record start time, route, drops, waiting time and finish time, signed by the supervisor at day end.
3. Set a rule for waiting time
State how idle yard hours are counted, so that crews and owner agree on what a day is before it begins.
4. Plan leave around peak seasons
Decide the busiest weeks, how many may be off together and how requests are decided. Publish the rule early.
5. Allow simple shift swaps
Two staff of the same group may swap with the manager's approval, and the record is updated the same day.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask a loader how their last week's hours were noted.
- Count how many consultants were on the floor on your last three Saturdays.
- Check whether your leave rule for wedding season is written anywhere.
- See whether fitters' travel time is part of their recorded day.

Questions owners ask
That is a decision for you and your advisers. Whatever you choose, state it clearly and apply it equally. Confirm the employment rules with a qualified professional.
Fix a start time and a minimum crew, then plan routes the evening before from confirmed orders. Keep a spare person each day for orders added late.
Allow swaps within the same group and with the manager's approval so the floor always has someone who knows the range. Record every swap for fairness.
