Recruitment process consulting for Mobile Stores: Replacing a Leaver in Days, Not Weeks
A mobile store with one executive short loses sales every hour. Recruitment has to work like a standing pipeline: a pool of candidates, a counter trial and an offer ready within days.

Most stores recruit after someone resigns. The manager posts a message, takes whoever turns up, and the new person starts while everyone is already stretched. The cycle then repeats, because a rushed hire with poor fit leaves within weeks and the store never builds a team that knows its customers.
A pipeline works better. Keep a list of candidates who impressed you, including trial days, past staff who left on good terms and referrals from your best sellers. When a place opens, you start from names, not from nothing. A half-day trial at the counter shows manner, speed with billing and ease with customers far better than a chat.
How to set it up
1. Write the role in plain terms
State store, shift pattern, base pay, incentive range described by sheet, and the products handled. Honesty about incentives prevents early exits.
2. Build the pool before you need it
Collect names from walk-ins, referrals, college and training institutes, and former staff. Contact them every few weeks so they stay warm.
3. Use a counter trial
Bring the candidate for a half day. Watch greeting, product questions, billing practice and how they deal with a refusal. The store manager and a senior executive both score it.
4. Make an offer within two days
Decide quickly and write the offer with base pay, incentive description, shifts and probation. Delay costs you the best candidates.
5. Hand over to induction
Plan the first week before the person arrives, with a named buddy. See the employee onboarding process.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Count how many days passed between the last resignation and a replacement starting.
- See how many names are in your pool today.
- Check whether the last hires did a counter trial before an offer.
- Ask a recent joiner whether the incentive described at hiring matched the first month.

Questions owners ask
From referrals by your own staff, local training institutes, colleges and former employees. Walk-ins who enquire at your counter often have the right temperament.
It helps with product knowledge, but attitude and honesty matter more. A keen newcomer with a good buddy often learns faster than an experienced person with fixed habits.
Half a day is usually enough to see manner and speed. A full day starts to disrupt the store. Pay for the time if it runs beyond a few hours.
