Leadership and people management training for Electronic Product Manufacturers: from operator to supervisor
Supervisors are often promoted operators. Leadership training helps them run a station line, give feedback and handle pressure without shouting or doing the work themselves.

Without training, a new supervisor does what they saw before. They shout at peaks, fix stations themselves and avoid telling friends that quality is slipping. Operators learn to wait for the supervisor and speed falls. Final test findings reach the supervisor late and nothing changes. Rework builds quietly behind the line.
Good training is short and tied to the line. Supervisors learn a shift start talk, how to give feedback in the moment, how to rebalance stations and how to use test findings the next day. They practise on real cases from the last season, and bring a result to the next session. The owner or production head follows up.
How to set it up
1. Use cases from the last peak
Pick real events such as a station that slowed, a dispute and a defect that reached final test. They make the best practice material.
2. Teach a short start-of-shift talk
Cover target, quality focus, safety and changes in two minutes. Supervisors practise in pairs and give each other feedback.
3. Practise feedback in the moment
Role play correcting a mistake calmly, thanking good work and refusing an unsafe shortcut. Keep it plain and respectful.
4. Use the test findings
Show how to read final test results by station and turn them into a next-day action. See leadership and people management training.
5. Follow up with the owner
Meet each supervisor after a month. Ask what they tried and what they need. Repeat once more, then fold the habits into their regular reviews.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask three supervisors what they say at the start of a shift.
- Look at last week's final test findings and see who read them.
- Count how many supervisors had any training after promotion.
- Ask operators how a supervisor corrected them last time.

Questions owners ask
Give them a short programme, a mentor among the experienced leads and regular feedback from you. Start with the tasks they face daily, such as shift talks, feedback and rebalancing.
Only briefly in emergencies. Their job is to keep the line moving, check quality and support people. If they are always on a station, the line loses its leader.
Share them by station every day in plain figures and ask supervisors to pick one fix for the next shift. Review the results weekly so people see that the findings change something.
