- Preferred two to four years supervising housekeeping, technical or support staff at a site.
- Experience at a similar kind of premises, such as an office park, hospital or mall, is preferred.

Interview questions to ask
Ask every candidate the same questions in the same order and score them against written anchors, so the decision rests on the work and not the impression.
- How do you plan a day when two housekeeping staff are absent and a client visit is scheduled?
- A tenant complains repeatedly about a washroom. What do you check and change?
- Tell us how you supervise an outside vendor doing electrical or plumbing repair on site.
- What do you do the moment you see an unsafe condition, such as a wet floor near stairs or an exposed wire?
- How do you handle a team member who skips tasks on the checklist?
- Describe how you track complaints so none stay open without an update.
Hiring tips for this role
- Do a site walk-through test if possible. Ask what they notice and what they would act on first. It reveals practical eye better than questions.
- Check people skills. A supervisor manages frontline workers and tenants who may be upset, so ask for a conflict example.
- Match the site type. A hospital, mall and office park need different standards, so prefer experience at similar premises.
- Confirm shift and rotation expectations upfront, as site coverage often includes early starts, nights or weekends.
Questions about hiring a facility supervisor
A supervisor runs daily work on the ground, leads the team and handles complaints. A manager owns the whole site, budget, vendor contracts and client relationship. A large site may have several supervisors under one manager.
Office parks, malls, hospitals, schools, factories with large campuses, residential societies and any firm that outsources soft services. Anyone with a site that needs cleaning, upkeep and daily oversight will benefit.
A diploma, ITI or graduate degree is helpful, but experience on site counts more. Look for supervision of teams, familiarity with checklists and a record of closing complaints. Treat formal papers as preferred.
