HR reporting and analytics for Express delivery providers: linking people numbers to parcel volumes
Hub managers watch parcels hourly but rarely see people numbers beside them. A simple weekly report ties attendance, overtime and exits to volume so strain shows early.

Share your requirementsWhy HR reporting and analytics matters in express delivery providers
In express operations, volume is tracked by the minute while people data sits in registers. A hub can handle record volumes with half the usual night crew and nobody notices until a supervisor resigns. Leavers, overtime and late arrivals each tell a story, but they are rarely read together.
Good reporting here is modest. One page a week per hub with parcels handled, people present, overtime, late arrivals, new joiners and leavers. A monthly summary for the head of operations with trends by hub and shift. The reports help ask better questions, such as why one night shift loses people faster than another.
How to set it up
1. Choose six numbers
Parcels handled, headcount present, overtime hours, late arrivals, joiners and leavers. Add injuries if tracked.
2. Pull them into one weekly sheet per hub
Use attendance registers and volume reports. Keep the layout the same across hubs for easy comparison.
3. Read them with the hub manager
Spend ten minutes each week asking what the numbers say about the last peak, the last bad night or a rising leaver count.
4. Add a monthly view by shift and role
Show trends so you can see whether night sorters leave faster than delivery executives, or one hub more than another.
5. Act on one finding each month
Pick one pattern, such as a crew with high overtime, and test a change. See HR process consulting.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask a hub manager how many people left last month and compare with HR records.
- Check whether overtime hours are recorded by shift and role.
- See if volume and people numbers can be placed on one page.
- Look for one pattern that could be acted on this month.

Questions owners ask
Not at first. A shared sheet fed from registers is enough to see patterns. Use any tools you already have, and improve the habit before the tool.
Present headcount against parcels handled, overtime hours, late arrivals and leavers, all by shift. Together they show strain building before service drops.
Keep to a few numbers, one page and one short weekly discussion with the hub manager. If a number is never used in that talk, drop it from the sheet.
