Performance management process for Education Franchises: a fair term review for teachers
Teachers are often judged by a parent complaint or a result. A term review based on what was seen in class and what was heard from parents is fairer and teaches more.

In many centres, the review is a quick word with the centre head at the end of the year, or a reaction to a parent's call. Teachers do not know what is expected, and strong teachers go unrecognised. When a new batch struggles, blame falls on the teacher without looking at the batch size or timings.
A term review is short. It looks at a few things: the method followed in observed classes, the progress of the batch, feedback from parents and the teacher's own goal for the term. It ends with one strength, one thing to work on and one support the centre will give.
How to set it up
1. Set three goals at term start
One on method, one on batch progress and one on parent communication. Write them in a line each and agree them with the teacher.
2. Observe during the term
The centre head or coordinator watches one class and records what was seen against the method.
3. Collect parent feedback simply
A short form or a call to a few parents, asking what they see in their child and how the teacher communicates.
4. Hold the review meeting
The teacher speaks first. Then the reviewer shares observations and parent comments. Close with one strength, one development point and one support.
5. Connect reviews to decisions
Use the notes for term-end grade moves, pay steps and training choices, and keep a record with the teacher's file.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask a teacher what goals they were given for the current term.
- Count how many teachers were observed and given written feedback this term.
- See whether parent complaints trigger a review or an unfair judgment.
- Check that reviews are held in all centres, not only brand-owned ones.

Questions owners ask
They can inform it, but should not decide it. Batch intake, attendance and student effort vary. Weigh results with observation and parent feedback.
Each term is enough for most centres, with a short check at one month for new joiners. More often becomes a burden.
A franchise support manager or the brand's academic lead, using a centre visit, observation of the centre head's own class and parent feedback together, with the franchisee informed of the result.
