HR process consulting for Meal subscription providers: a morning cycle with clear handovers and cover
A subscription business is a chain of handovers: prep to cook, cook to packer, packer to rider, rider to customer. Clear steps at each handover protect the morning when a person is absent.

Most subscription providers grow by adding people to a morning that was never written down. The founder knows who does what. As the kitchen grows, handovers happen by shouting, and one absence leaves a gap nobody expected. New staff learn by watching, and each cook explains the sequence differently.
Process design here means writing down the chain and checking each link. It marks who hands over to whom, at what time and with what check. It names a cover for each link. It sets a simple rule for what happens if the chain is late, so a rider is not left waiting without information.
How to set it up
1. Draw the chain from prep to door
List each step with a time and an owner. Include the packing sheet, the loading check and the route sheet.
2. Mark each handover
Write what is handed over, what is checked and how a problem is reported. Keep one line each.
3. Name the cover
For every link, a trained back-up. Practise it once a month so it is real. See the HR process consulting page.
4. Set a late-chain rule
If the kitchen is more than a set time late, the coordinator tells riders and callers at once, and a message goes to subscribers.
5. Review after a bad morning
A ten minute talk the next day about the cause and one fix. Update the chain sheet if needed.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask three staff to draw the morning chain and compare the drawings.
- Look for a handover that depends on one person's memory.
- See who the riders call when the kitchen is late.
- Check when you last practised a cover.

Questions owners ask
One page, with times and names. Enough for a new joiner to understand the day, not so long that nobody reads it.
Founder judgement still matters a great deal. The chain sheet covers the usual morning so the founder can focus on the unusual one.
Rotate one trained person into another role during a quiet week and watch how they manage. Note what they needed to know, and add it to the chain sheet afterwards.
