Recruitment process consulting for Finance Outsourcing Companies: a batch hiring plan
A finance outsourcing company hires in batches against a client's forecast. If the batch is too large, seats sit empty; too small, and month-end breaks the team.

Most finance process hiring is done in a rush when a client signs or a ramp-up date is announced. The recruiter sends many commerce graduates for interviews, and the selection test is whatever was used last time. Some joiners cannot read a ledger, and others leave in the first month for a rival offer.
A better process begins with the work. Which client process, how many seats, which skills and what a person must do unaided by week four. From there the screen, the test and the batch date follow. A short bench of selected candidates lets you replace early dropouts without restarting the cycle.
How to set it up
1. Turn the forecast into seats
Take the client's volume plan, subtract current capacity and add the exits you normally see in the first months. The result is a seat count per process and a joining date.
2. Write a one-page role profile per process
Say which tools, which accounting knowledge and which shift pattern the job needs. Tell candidates about night work and month-end peaks at the first call.
3. Use a short practical test
A small exercise on matching invoices or reading a bank statement tells more than a marks sheet. Score it the same way for each candidate.
4. Hold a bench
Select a few more people than seats, with a clear joining date range. If someone drops out before the batch starts, a bench candidate fills the seat.
5. Review the batch after thirty and ninety days
Compare who remained, who reached the accuracy target and which source gave the best joiners. Adjust sourcing before the next batch. This also feeds HR reporting and analytics.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Count how many selected candidates actually joined in your last batch.
- Check whether the test used for hiring looks like the work a joiner does in week one.
- Ask team leaders which source gave the most reliable associates.
- Look at how many seats were empty during the last client ramp-up, and for how many days.

Questions owners ask
It depends on your pass rate at each stage. Count it from your last batch: applicants, tested, selected, joined. Use those ratios rather than a rule of thumb, and refresh them every quarter.
A mix. Experienced people carry complex work and coach others, while freshers fill volume roles at lower cost. Decide per process, based on how much judgement the work needs.
Stay in touch between offer and joining, share the roster and travel details early, and confirm a week before. A small bench covers the rest.
