HR process consulting for Housing Finance Companies: finding where files and people wait between desks
A home loan file crosses many desks, and the waiting often sits between them. Reviewing the handoffs and roles with the people involved finds delays that no single manager can see.

Share your requirementsWhy HR process consulting matters in housing finance companies
Each desk in a housing finance company knows its own work, but few see the whole journey. Sales feels credit is slow, credit feels documents arrive late, legal waits for property papers and operations chases everyone. Each desk has its own list and its own explanation. Roles overlap, approvals repeat and staff carry the frustration.
A process review follows a handful of real files from first contact to disbursement. Staff from each desk describe their steps, what they receive and what they pass on. The review records waiting time between steps, checks who decides what, and notes the repeated approvals. Changes to roles, handoffs and checklists follow, agreed with the people who will use them. HR looks at roles, workload and training behind the process.
How to set it up
1. Choose a sample of recent files
Pick files of different types and speeds, including some that went smoothly and some that stalled.
2. Walk each file with the people involved
Ask sales, credit, technical, legal and operations staff to describe their steps, the papers they receive and where they wait.
3. Mark waits, repeats and unclear decisions
Map where files sit idle, where the same check is done twice and where nobody knows who can decide. See HR process consulting.
4. Agree changes with the desks
Redraw handoffs, set checklists for each stage and clarify who decides what. Test changes with a few files.
5. Align roles and training to the new flow
Update role descriptions, workload plans and short training for the desks affected. Review the flow after a quarter.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Choose a file that took twice the average time and trace why.
- Ask each desk what it needs from the one before it and does not get.
- See whether the same document is checked at more than one stage.
- Check if role descriptions match what people do in the new flow.

Questions owners ask
People from every desk the file touches, plus a branch manager. The review works only if those who do the work describe it, and the findings are shared with them.
A dozen files across types and speeds is usually enough to show the pattern. More can be added if different branches work differently.
Not necessarily. Most reviews find waiting and rework, which free time for better service. Be open with staff about the aim and share the findings with them.
