HR reporting and analytics for QSR chains: a one-page people report for every store and area
A chain with many stores cannot manage by walking in. A one-page people report per store shows where crew are leaving, where overtime is piling up and which managers need support.

Most quick service chains know sales and wastage to the day, but know little about their people. Turnover is guessed at, absence is noticed only when a store is short, and the reasons crew leave are heard at the area review as opinions. Decisions about training and hiring follow the loudest story.
A people report does not need software. A single page per store, filled monthly with a few numbers, is enough to start. The same page for every store lets an area manager compare, ask why and share what a good store does. Over months, patterns appear that no one could see store by store.
How to set it up
1. Choose five to seven measures
Joiners, leavers, length of stay at leaving, absence days, overtime hours, shift lead vacancies and number of crew with sign-offs. Define each in one line.
2. Design a one-page form
The same layout for all stores with last month, this month and trend. Keep it to a page that an area manager can read in five minutes.
3. Agree who fills and who checks
Store manager fills by a set date, the area manager checks and head office compiles. Use one place to keep it so that history is not lost.
4. Review monthly at the area huddle
Pick the two stores with the most change, good or bad, and ask what happened. Record the action. See the retention work for follow-up.
5. Add leaver reasons
A five-question exit chat, logged by the area manager. Count the top reasons by store and by tenure to see what is really driving exits.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask three store managers how many crew they lost last month and compare with head office figures.
- Check whether any store records absence in the same way as the others.
- List the top reason crew gave for leaving last quarter.
- See whether the report has led to any action in the last three months.

Questions owners ask
Joiners, leavers and length of stay by store, month by month. Add absence and overtime when that is working. Start small, keep it regular and let it grow.
Only if nothing comes of it. Keep the form short, give them the result of the area comparison and act on what they flag. Then it becomes useful to them.
Not at first. A shared sheet is enough to prove the habit. Software can wait until the measures are agreed and used.
