HR process consulting for Spiritual organizations: how people matters move between centres and head office
In a movement with many centres, a people issue can sit for months between the centre head and head office because nobody knows whose it is.

A worker asks for a change of centre. The centre head forwards it, head office replies after a while, and the worker waits. A pay query goes to three people. A concern about a teacher reaches a trustee by chance. Each case is handled with goodwill, yet the path is unclear and slow.
Process consulting maps the common paths: joining, transfer, leave, pay query, concern, leaving. For each it shows who does what and how long it takes. The map often reveals steps that nobody owns. A few agreed owners and time limits remove most delay without adding forms.
How to set it up
1. Pick six common people matters
Joining, transfer, leave, pay query, concern about a senior, and leaving. Choose cases from the last year.
2. Trace each case from start to finish
Ask those involved who did what and when. Draw each case as a simple line of steps.
3. Mark where cases stalled
Highlight steps with no owner, steps repeated and steps waiting on one busy person.
4. Agree owners and time limits
For each matter, name who acts and by when. Keep it to a page. Share it with all centre heads.
5. Check again after three months
Look at new cases against the page. Adjust. The HR policies and governance page can hold the final version.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Take one transfer from last year and find how many weeks it took.
- Ask three workers who they would approach with a pay query.
- Look for a matter that was handled in different ways in two centres.
- Check who at head office feels overloaded by people questions.

Questions owners ask
The aim is to reduce waiting. One page of owners and time limits replaces many informal chains. Add steps only where a case showed a real gap.
Two or three centre heads, one head office person, and a few workers who recently used the process. Include a trustee for the final review.
A small mapping can be done in a few weeks of part-time effort. Rolling out the agreed owners takes a few months because people need to try them.
