HR reporting and analytics for Wooden Door Makers: tracing a warped door back to its lot
Doors twist weeks after fitting, and by then the batch is forgotten. A small set of records and a monthly count lets you trace a complaint to a cause.

A warped door comes back from a builder's site. The timber is gone, the press operator does not remember the batch, and the moisture reading, if any, is in a notebook. The owner argues with the supplier, the press operator and the polisher. Nothing is learned, and the same fault returns in the next lot.
Good looks like a tag on each timber lot and door batch showing moisture reading, date and checker, and a one page monthly count of complaints by cause, section and fitter. The numbers are simple counts, not charts. Owners can see that most trouble comes from two lots, one press shift or a certain fitter, and act on it.
How to set it up
1. Tag every timber lot and batch
Record moisture reading, date, supplier and checker on a tag or sheet that follows the lot into the press.
2. Log complaints in one place
For each complaint note the door type, batch tag, fitter, site and what went wrong. One notebook or sheet is enough.
3. Count by cause each month
Total complaints by timber, press, finish and fitting. See HR reporting and analytics.
4. Read the numbers with the section heads
Show the count to the press, sanding and fitting leaders and ask what they see. Their answers refine the cause.
5. Pick one change a month
Choose a single action, such as a second moisture check or a fitting briefing, and see if the count falls.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Look at the last five warping complaints and see whether the batch can be traced.
- Count how many timber lots have a recorded moisture reading.
- Check who pressed and who fitted the doors in your last three complaints.
- Ask your moisture checker how he records a reading.

Questions owners ask
Supplier, date received, moisture reading, checker and where it was stacked. That is enough to link a complaint to the lot without a heavy system.
No. A printed sheet or a shared spreadsheet is enough for a start. Software can come later if the counts show it would help.
Make the record about the process, not blame. Show that complaints traced to a lot are the supplier's issue, and those from a method are fixed together. People hide less when the count helps them.
