Employee onboarding process for Skill Development Centres: inducting trainers who start in the first week of a project
Project staff often join days before a batch begins. A short induction on the method, the sponsor's rules and the centre's routines lets them teach properly from the first session.

A trainer who joins on Monday may face students on Wednesday. They have the syllabus but not your session format, attendance routine, assessment dates or the way the sponsor wants records kept. They learn these mistakes at a time, and the centre pays for them in corrections and delayed reports.
An induction for project staff can fit in two days. One day on the method, the records and the sponsor's conditions, one day shadowing a session. A buddy stays with the new person for the first fortnight. The centre head checks the first week's records before they go to the sponsor.
How to set it up
1. Send a joining pack in advance
A short note with the centre address, timings, syllabus, batch list and the name of the person to meet on day one.
2. Run a one day induction
Cover the teaching method, session plan, attendance and assessment records, student conduct rules and what the sponsor requires. Use real forms and examples from last batch.
3. Let the new trainer shadow one session
Before teaching, watch a session by an experienced trainer, and then teach part of the next one with the buddy present.
4. Assign a buddy for two weeks
A trainer from the same centre or cluster answers questions, checks the first week's records and reports to the coordinator.
5. Hold a day ten check-in
The centre head asks what is unclear, looks at the records and confirms the trainer's schedule for the rest of the batch.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Ask the last trainer who joined what they were told on day one and how long it took.
- Check the first week's attendance and assessment records for a new trainer for errors.
- See whether the sponsor's conditions are written in a form a trainer can read in ten minutes.
- Count how many new trainers had a named buddy.

Questions owners ask
A short induction costs less than a week of corrections. If a start date is tight, run the method day before joining and let the trainer shadow on day two. Do not skip the records training.
A trainer who has taught at least one batch with you and has time to spare in the first fortnight. Recognise the role with a small payment or credit, otherwise it becomes an extra burden.
Local knowledge helps with candidates, so use it. The method and records still need teaching. Pair the person with someone who knows the programme and review the first week closely.
