Performance management process for Data Processing Companies: output counted only at agreed accuracy
In a processing floor, speed is easy to see and accuracy is easy to miss. A performance process must show both, and give feedback fast enough to change habits.

Most floors count lines, forms or documents processed per day. Errors are found later by a checker, sometimes by the client. By then the operator has repeated the same mistake across hundreds of records. Targets that count output alone raise speed and lower accuracy. Rework follows and no one is sure whose fault it was.
A balanced process counts output at an agreed accuracy, gives feedback the same day and lets the operator see their own error types. Team leaders review patterns weekly and decide whether the cause is training, the guide or the person. Rankings are used carefully, with beginners compared against beginners.
How to set it up
1. Define accuracy for each process
Say what counts as an error, how it is sampled and what accuracy level is expected. Share the definition in training.
2. Count output at accuracy
Show each operator one figure that combines output and accuracy, with the parts visible. Do not reward output below the accuracy line.
3. Give same-day feedback
The checker sends each operator a short list of their errors by end of shift, with the correct entry.
4. Review patterns weekly
Team leaders look at repeat error types and decide whether to fix a guide, retrain a group or coach a person.
5. Compare like with like
Rank beginners and experienced operators separately, and avoid public lists that shame new joiners.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- Take the last month and find operators with high output and low accuracy.
- Ask a checker how quickly errors reach the operator.
- Read one process guide and check whether it explains the most common error.
- Check how new joiners are shown their results in the first month.

Questions owners ask
Use individual targets for feedback, and add a team measure for shared batches and quality. This gives clarity on personal performance and encourages helping each other.
Make accuracy a condition of the target, give same-day error feedback and review rework cost with the team. When rushing costs the operator, they slow down.
Look at the cause first: a new batch type, a poor source document or a personal issue. Offer coaching, review the next week, and take formal steps only when the pattern continues.
