Recruitment process consulting for Customer Support Centres: batches that survive class
A support centre hires in batches and pays for every seat in the classroom. The recruitment process decides whether the batch becomes agents on the floor or a room of leavers.

Most centres run walk-in drives, college tie-ups and referrals together. Each source brings different people, but results are rarely compared. The recruiter is judged on the number of joiners, so a batch fills, and then thins out by week four. Trainers blame screening, recruiters blame the shift, and the cost is paid again for the next batch.
A better process tests what the job asks for: clear speech, patience, typing speed for chat, and willingness to work the shift on offer. It also tells candidates the truth about rosters, targets and pay timing before they accept. Recruitment is then judged on agents who reach the floor and remain, not only on joining day.
How to set it up
1. Write the real job preview
A one-page description of the shift pattern, queue types, target style and pay dates, shared before the interview. Candidates who dislike it leave early, which saves a seat.
2. Screen for the channel
Use a short voice check for calls, a typing and writing check for chat and email, and a patience scenario for all. Score each on the same sheet.
3. Compare sources by outcome
Track each batch by source, such as walk-in, college, referral and agency, against who reached the floor and who stayed three months.
4. Hold a joining-week call
Call every accepted candidate before the start date. Confirm travel, documents and shift, and note anyone who sounds unsure.
5. Plan intake to forecast
Match batch size and dates to the workforce forecast, so you are not hiring in a rush after queues have already grown.
Check these first
Before changing anything, find out what is true today. These take an afternoon and use your own records.
- List your last three batches by source and mark who remained after ninety days.
- Read your job advertisement and check if it mentions the shift pattern honestly.
- Ask recruiters how many accepted candidates fail to appear on day one.
- Review your voice screen: does it test the skill used on a live call?

Questions owners ask
They fill seats quickly, but quality varies. Use them alongside referrals and campus links, and compare each source on who stays, not only on who joins.
Basic system use matters even for voice, but the main test should match the work. Add a short typing check if the agent must update tickets while talking.
Contact them in the days before joining, confirm the shift and travel, and keep a reserve list. The no-show rate in your own batches tells you how large the reserve should be.
